From 1/2" FF cut 24 spokes each 13" long. Mark the center of your base (4"). Because you will be upsetting the spokes immediately, you must glue in all your spokes. Dry fit each spoke, then remove one at a time and glue it in. The front of your base is the rounded side and the back is the flat. Insert a spoke at your front center mark, 6 spokes on each side of the center spoke, 1 in each corner, and 9 evenly spaced on the flat side.
Lightly dampen and upset the spokes. Weave 6 rows start and stop with 11/64" FO, then 1 row 1/4" FF dyed navy and 1 row 1/4" FF dyed wine. Measure off two 47ft. lengths of 4mm natural double twisted paper cord. No need to wet it. Chase weave for 40-42 rows, packing often. If you need to add onto the paper cord just butt the ends inside the basket. Again, pack well before weaving the following start and stop rows: 1 row 1/4" FF wine, 1 row 1/4" FF navy, 6 rows 11/64" FO and 1 row 3/8" FF (rim row).
Cut and tuck spokes. Thread the outside 1/2" FO rim through the opening of the leather strap, positioning the strap in the back of the basket. The inner rim (1/2" FF) goes on in the usual manner. Use leftover 4mm natural double twisted paper cord as the rim filler, and lash with 11/64" FO.
