Cut 26 spokes each 11" long using 3/4" flat reed. Cut 8 spokes each 11" long using 3/8" Flat reed.
Place the 3/4" spokes all around the base as follows:
3 on each side of the handle
5 on each end
1 in each corner along with a 3/8" spoke on each side
HINT: To help your spokes stay in the groove, bend over the end of each spoke about 1/2" before inserting them into the groove. You will have a double thickness.

All rows will be start and stop weaving.

Weave 3 rows with 3/16" keeping these rows flat on the table. Clothespin the shaper inside of the handle, and bring all spokes inside of shaper. This will help you to gently curve your spokes up as you weave. Continue weaving with 3/16" for 11 more rows....a total of 14 rows. You will remove the shaper when you get past the bend in the handle.

Continue to weave with:
1 row 1/4" dyed reed
1 row Basket Strip
1 row 1/4" dyed reed
2 rows 3/16"
1 row 3/8" Flat (rim row)

Rims are 1/2" Flat Oval inside and outside with seagrass between rims, and lashed with cane.
